Grandma’s First Bible

Answered Prayer Stories
Grandmother’s First Bible
In 1919 my grandparents lived in Santa Fe Oklahoma while my grandfather worked in the oil field.
In those days they had to arrange to live in the best way they could, it was long before anyone could go to a new location and have access to real housing as we now know it.
They lived in a large tent, grandmother cooked on an iron stove, and she swept the hard-red clay dirt that was the floor of the large tent. They had three small children and two metal framed beds, a few pots, pans and dishes, and a wooden rocking chair.
When the wind blew hard the dry red dust would fill the air and ride the currents across the dry land.
My grandmother longed for a bible to read, but she knew few people in the area, and fewer still that had a bible. Everyday grandma would pray for a bible to read. One day a storm with wind racing down the road, made the tent flap slap furiously and the tent to sway as the wind grew into a heavy billowing gust.

Grandmother kept the children on the big metal bed, while she watched the growing storm clouds gather. She was ready to put them under the bed when it got too bad. She saw some loose paper sheets swirling around down the dust covered road. She cautioned the children to stay on the bed while she rushed out to gather some of the pages of the book. She gathered up eight pages from a Bible, and she was so happy that she now could read from the bible. That was my grandparents first Bible.
Many times, I have seen on the Internet various videos showing people from other nations who have prayed for many years for a Bible. I would see them as they rejoiced when they finally would have a box of Bibles sent to a church, and they thank the Lord for the opportunity to read the Bible. They hungered for God’s word, like people starving for much-needed food.
We need to see that desire here in America. Instead of hungering and thirsting for the amazing word of God, our people have become shut-off from being receptive to God’s truth. They first became gospel hardened, with a hardened heart toward other people, they became unkind and cruel. They became resistant to Jesus Christ by being persuaded to live with a double-minded perspective of the world system.
They have wavered from the truth, by swinging back and forth, like a pendulum. People have professed more than they possessed of God’s truth. They have tried to accept Jesus statements in the Bible, but they haven’t fully believed them to produce life-changing faith. They have been persuaded more by the unclean habits of the people of the world, than the clean habits of resting in the faith of Jesus Christ.
You can only have peace, rest and contentment in your belief in Jesus Christ when you can love others as yourself. When you can fill your mind, heart and soul with the wonderful life changing words of Jesus Christ’s truth.

God’s Divine Appointment to Answer Prayer

By Joan Jessalyn Cox

One morning our daughter Joanna was getting ready for work, she needed to leave in about ten minutes to get there on time. The phone rang, and her son needed to ask her a question. They talked a few minutes leaving her in rush to get out the door to work. She hurried to the car, loaded her computer and saw a woman walking down the road crying, she had a card board sign under her arm.
Joanna got in the car and rolled down the window and asked the woman if she needed help, or a ride somewhere. She nodded yes, opened the door with tears still rolling down her face.
“Where do you need to go?” My daughter asked, wondering what was wrong.
Over to Walmart, my granddaughter is sick and needs some medicine. Her crying began to wrack her body as she began to tell her story.
I’ve been praying since 4:00 this morning crying out to the Lord for help. I don’t know what to do but to take this sign and get some money for groceries. My daughter and grand-daughter have come to live with me. We neither one have a job, and I get a small check from the government, it’s already gone. I don’t have any groceries, and a relative came and dug up my water well to sell it for drugs. My granddaughter is sick, I have a card to get her medicine.  The woman was obviously at the point of desperation.
Joanna flew into action which is her personality, and her great compassion moves her when she sees the need. She said don’t worry, we’ll get you some help right now. She picked up her cell phone, called work told them she would be a little late and told the crying woman they would go into the Walmart and get her some groceries. She spent $100 dollars getting them several bags of groceries, and jugs of water.
They went over to the pharmacy to pick up the medicine for the sick little girl and the woman who waited on them, flung down the card with a snide remark and said this won’t work. Joanna stepped up and handed her a twenty-dollar bill, while frowning her disgust at someone so uncaring as to treat someone so harshly without human kindness.
Joanna took the woman home and her daughter and grand-daughter came running out to help carry all the sacks of groceries in the house, they thanked her many times and their gratefulness shown on their faces. She handed the woman gas money, so she would be able to have transportation again.
When she related the story to her co-workers, one of them later gave her fifty dollars. They were touched by her compassion for the lady whose prayer was answered within only four hours. When you truly care about others you can be used of God to be part of the answer to someone’s hurting heart-felt crying out to God.

Bears and Angels a True Story

Our sixteen-year-old great grandson, Colton decided to accompany his good friend Jonathan on a bow and arrow hunting outing with him and his older brother. Colton didn’t have his hunting license, so he went along I guess for moral support.
The older brother took the first tree stand, then Colton and his friend climbed up the tall tree in the second tree stand, a few yards from the first one.
They settled in whispering and watching for deer, when Jonathan’s older brother messaged him on the cell phone. He read it to Colton, Black bear just passed me headed your way.
Panic triggered their fear and Jonathan said what do we do? Colton said, It’s not far to the truck, we’d better book it.
They frantically hurried down the tree and saw the big black bear ambling toward them, they started running to the car, and the big black bear began to run after them.
Breathing hard they barely got to truck and popped into it, when the bear was right outside the windows.
The next day Colton was talking to his grandmother, telling her of the frightening experience in detail.
When Colton related his story to his grandmother Joanna, she said “That’s why we pray everyday for the Lord to protect you and all our grandchildren. We pray for the Lord to send his angels to watch over you and protect you.”
“Those angels were really running Grandma!”

Bears and Angels a True Story

Peace and Goodwill through Jesus Christ

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:7

Who brings peace?

The song of the angels that rejoiced at Jesus Christ birth, gave us the harmony of hope that can only come from Almighty God.

The angels joyfully sang.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:14

When Jesus was born he came to earth to be our perfect holy example of how to live a pure righteous life. He showed the world his holy personality, so we would see how a perfect sinless existence would heal people body, soul and spirit to bring them into God’s high moral standards and bring them peace and goodwill.

Prayer is a worthwhile way to redeem your time. Prayer is a good way to prove God’s promises are true. Answered prayer proves your faith in Jesus Christ is true.

Prayer is provable by faith in Jesus Christ. Loving and trusting Jesus Christ is the joy of faith.

Energize your faith in Jesus Christ! Find Peace and Perspective from God’s Timeless Truths.

Who needs peace? Families, individuals, governments, nations, churches, Christians.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”  John 14:27

People need answers. Answers that are genuine, honest, and in-depth. Answers that can lead them to a better place in their life, and most important of all change their thinking and actions.

Jesus Christ needs you! You need Jesus Christ!

Truth is an explosion of reality! Face up to the truth! Truth is stronger than fiction! Get Real!

There are many statements made about the scriptures that are divorced from the truth.

In her work the truth stands out as a treasured taste of freedom. Truth is a way of life that liberates the soul’s ties to the lies of corruption.

The Way of Truth!

God’s ways are not of the world. God’s ways are so much greater than the ways of the world it’s hard for the human mind to ever image God’s way.

“These things have I spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

“Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,”

“To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” Luke 1: 78 & 79

God our divine protector-The victory -The presence of the victorious Christ gives assurance of the victory.

“The Lord shall fight for you and ye shall hold your peace.” Exodus 14:14

Where should peace begin?

True peace can only come to the nations when peace is felt and experienced in the hearts of the people, a normal outcome of peace with oneself and Jesus Christ.

Let peace begin at home, let peace begin in me.

Let peace begin in you,

Let Peace set us free, set us free

Free to do good, free to help others

Free just to be me!

“And let peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body: and be ye thankful.”

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”   Colossians 3:9-17

It’s time for Christians to make a stand together for Jesus Christ, to be revived and restored, and to work together for all his holy, moral standards of love, peace and goodness to all people.

Peace in our hearts, brings peace in our lives, and peace to our nation!

“I will both lay me down in peace and sleep; for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”  Psalms 4:8

Wisdom tells you to be wise, watchful and aware always, because the enemy is near you all the time. It takes the truth, and genuine prayer to Jesus Christ, who always answers prayer and who will intervene, when those who are honest come to him to stop the horrific actions of evil around them.

You can only speak peace to those who are trustworthy, peace can only come through truth. All those who lie cannot be trusted in anything and since they move in opposite directions they will betray you someway, somehow and some day.

~ Joan Jessalyn Cox

And in despair I bowed my head:

‘There is no peace on earth,’ I said,

For hate is strong,

And mocks the song

Of peace on earth, good will to men.’

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:

‘God is not dead, nor doth he sleep;

The wrong shall fail the right prevail,

With peace on earth, good will to men. “

Henry W. Longfellow – 1807-1882

Victorious Faith in Jesus Christ: Creates Good Christian Conduct Joan Jessalyn Cox Second book in the Foundational Faith In Truth Bible Study series, 236 pages, (paperback) $17.99, 9780999161708 (eBook) available $2.99 9780999161715 (Reviewed: November 2017)
In Victorious Faith in Jesus Christ, Joan Jessalyn Cox teaches foundational biblical principles to help Christians become true examples of Christ’s love by growing in spirituality, increasing their faith, and living in “harmony with the truth of God’s word.”
Cox believes many Christians, including some ministers, have an elementary understanding of their faith, which hinders their prayers, binds them to sin, and weakens their witness. She aims to counteract the “profusion of confusion” among Christians by teaching the absolute truth of the Bible. To this end, she urges readers to reflect and discover “mind-hooks” or false teachings that have twisted their thinking and behavior. She encourages daily repentance, Bible study and prayer for a victorious life.
Her wisdom and insight into Scripture bring revelation and conviction as she clearly explains the traits inherent to righteous living, such as integrity, self-discipline, spiritual discernment, and more. Parents will value her candid discussion of proper discipline vs raising children with too much freedom, which she equates to abuse in the form of “fatal neglect.” Further, Cox’s transparent humility in sharing her own past confusion over the belief that grace was a “license to sin” exemplifies her Christlike humility and bolsters her argument that correcting wrong ideas fosters spiritual growth.
Cox’s biblical wisdom is congruent…with her beautiful message of love for lost souls. The truths she shares are biblically sound and valuable to Christians both new and seasoned. Cox’s…contribution to Christian teaching has the potential to be exceptional.

Billy Graham a True Friend to Jesus Christ and Christian Statesman

When you welcome someone into your life you want to introduce them to your best friend. How many people worldwide did Billy Graham introduce to Jesus Christ? How many millions felt like Billy Graham was their friend, even though they never met him face to face.
It was always enough that Billy Graham had met Jesus Christ and loved him enough to want to share that Divine loving fellowship with everyone he met.
Billy Graham was a true evangelist, whose life and countenance shown a loyalty to Jesus Christ, many never experienced, and he yearned to let them know about the greatest man who ever lived, Jesus Christ.
We remember the dynamic way he spoke with his compassionate appeal, spreading the truth of God’s word with a gospel message that touched the heart of those who heard him. He preached with the sincere fervor of his evangelical voice compelling his audience to come to Jesus Christ.
All eyes were on Billy Graham, there was no restlessness, no yawning and fading away in the mind, but the Holy Spirit made the message of salvation and deliverance so uplifting, it drew them to Jesus Christ. The beautiful strains of a well-chosen hymn invited them to come to meet Jesus Christ the peacemaker of humanity.
Jesus Christ, the man of truth, divine love and good will was with the evangelist as he stood inviting the audience to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their soul. Jesus stood with Billy Graham as he spoke with hope and heaven spread out before them, as he lifted the name of Jesus Christ up to the world. Billy Graham one of the greatest evangelist in this century.
Jesus Christ was always present for his friend Billy Graham, as Billy Graham stood up for the truth of Jesus Christ. He always made the work of Jesus Christ and salvation the priority in his life. He was a man of God, chosen to do a dynamic work of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to millions of people from all nations.
Millions of people can remember the day they sat and listened to Billy Graham passionately present Jesus Christ to them. They can remember the words that tugged at their heart as he so passionately asked them to come forward and accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior.
Billy Graham was a Christian Statesman, a true spokesman for Jesus Christ. He stood head and shoulders above most men of God, because of his steadfast allegiance to Jesus Christ.
He shared the gospel generously to the crowds who listened to him and responded to his truth moving them to flow down to the front to accept Jesus Christ. He was honorable and respectable through his faith, he never wavered, he remained honest, dependable and sincere.
He was always seen as a credible witness for Jesus Christ, because he lived a clean life, that never changed, but remained true to the faith he preached.
He proved the truth of God’s word worked wonders in a consistent clean holy life lived according to God’s principles.
He was a man of true integrity that lived the life that pleased God and brought peace and good will into the lives that turned to Jesus because of his ministry and honorable life of loyalty to Jesus Christ.
He began and ended his Christian life by pleasing God and staying true to Jesus Christ. A man of high morals, great courage and integrity, who took the high road in life through showing others the way of peace, hope and Christian love in a hopeless world.
The gospel message that Billy Graham lived to deliver to the world was intended to bring peace and good will to every accepting heart, through Jesus Christ.
The message and legacy Billy Graham left to every Christian is to keep spreading the gospel message. To stand up for Jesus Christ beginning with prayer for one another, and to carry the gospel message to a world that is lost and dying.
When you make peace with Jesus Christ, and can make peace with yourself, you will be able to bring peace in your environment one courageous Christian at a time.
I wonder, Did Jesus Christ stand up as Billy Graham joined them in heaven, as the angels sang and rejoiced at his home coming? Will that be how we feel when we are called home to heaven?
Can we make a difference, even a small amount that will count before the wrapping up of all times? Can we bring peace to a chaotic world?
Yes! when we can reflect the truth of God, and pattern our life after Jesus Christ, and a dear friend in Jesus Christ service, Billy Graham.
Remember Billy Graham as one of the most honorable and noble Christians to present Jesus Christ to the world.
Remember Billy Graham as you honor him by living a better life with a close fellowship with Jesus Christ.
Remember him happy, because he was a man who pleased God, presented the truth of God and pointed millions to Jesus Christ so they could live a happy life, full of abundant hope and faith.

I Love the Faithfulness of Prayer Warriors By Joan Jessalyn Cox

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
My husband and I have morning prayer every day that we are home, and don’t need to go somewhere. We were praying the other morning and we always pray as long as we continue to be in the spirit of prayer. We usually begin around 7:00 and pray until we feel that we have covered everything that is on our heart to pray for.
I have joined several prayer groups on Facebook, and the Lord laid on my heart to pray for the prayer warriors. I was praying quietly in my spirit for all the prayer warriors, because there are so many people that really need their prayers. So, as I was praying for the prayer warriors, a prayer warrior called me.
The telephone rang around 9:30 while we were still praying. When I answered it was a lady that picked up my book, Victorious Faith in Jesus Christ at my beauty shop and wanted to read it. She borrowed it from my beauty operator and close friend, she enjoyed the book and she wanted to talk to me. When I heard about her I wanted to talk to her as well.
The phone rang that morning as we were still praying, but I always have time to visit with people. She introduced herself and said I’ve been wanting to call you and talk to you, but I just haven’t had enough time, and I really didn’t want to call you this morning because I don’t have time to talk, I have an appointment at 10:00. The Lord laid it on my heart to call you and I knew I had to obey the Lord.
We talked a few minutes and she said I feel like I’m suppose to pray for you right now. I said I always appreciate being prayed for. She prayed, and you could feel the power and anointing as she prayed. I thanked her for her prayer.
When I got off the phone the full truth came flooding into my soul. As I was praying for prayer warriors the Lord was moving on a prayer warrior’s heart to pray for me. He showed me he heard, answered immediately, and verified that she was called by the Lord in her prayer ministry, and that she could hear the voice of the Lord.
It takes a mature Christian not only to hear, know, and obey when the Lord speaks to them. The harmony of the members of the “body of Christ” is necessary during these end times. Prayer is the greatest weapon ever formed and unifies a believer and Jesus Christ through faith and truth.
“Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”          Matthew 18:19,20

A Christian who continually prays for other people and the needs that are presented to them is called a prayer warrior. They are a prayer warrior because of their God-given prayer ministry to strengthen other believers, and the whole “body of Christ.” They have a continual desire to help others by lifting them up in prayer to Jesus Christ, the only one who can and will answer prayer.

Blessed Are The Peacemakers!

“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9

“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.” Psalms 4:8
What is the determination of self-worth? It is not the color of one’s skin that determines their worth. It is the goodness of one’s nature toward others that determines their self-worth. It’s their encouragement, and moral support to others in times of difficulty. It’s their giving and caring nature as they help others to pick them up when they are down.
People of every nation, and of every color should be given the human dignity, respect and attention to be accepted according to how they behave with others. A meaningful life is one that delivers good attitudes and actions, that goodwill toward others will benefit all who encounter a trustworthy person.
Trustworthy people are those who are always dependable to give their best to others. Consideration of other’s feelings are part of their consistent giving nature, and being helpful to all people.
Kindness given to people regardless of their differences gives them the dignity of being treated with respect when they are being respectful. It must be mutual to be a worthwhile social encounter. It can never be one-sided to be up-lifting in social value.
Yes, behavior is a major part of having a civilized social engagement.
Peace can never become a peaceful coexistence if everyone who is part of a peaceful process doesn’t know how to be peaceable. Peace and equality must be part of one’s moral standards shown in their own thinking and actions to be meaningful for their own life, and the lives they affect.
Peacemaking is a Jesus Christ-like influence, calming the “storms of life”.
It is the truth of God, that determines the depth of spiritual understanding, and the trustworthiness of each person according to their own individuality. It is the individuality that can be better attained when people don’t have to defend just being themselves.
When the individuality of a believer can be influenced, manipulated, or destroyed by an individual or dominate group, they are damaged in some way in their life. It will take sound profound truth to disentangle people from the lingering “bad results” of transgressing God’s and man’s laws. All one’s problems begins and are compounded when you trust the untrustworthy.
Peace is found in the peaceful principles that is brought into our heart and mind through the absolute truth of Jesus Christ found in the Holy Bible. Jesus was born that all that believed in Him could find peace when they lived a good life, filled with love for others and lived life filled with the mercy and compassionate heart-felt love of God. Peace can only come from those who live daily in a peaceful way and care for others more than themselves.
We find peace when we serve Jesus Christ who was born to bring peace, and good will to humanity.

“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9

“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.” Psalms 4:8

                                                           An Everlasting Difference

Knowing more about Jesus Christ can make an everlasting difference in your life!
“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore, with loving kindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3
How do you make an everlasting difference in your life? You live a worthwhile life that gives meaning to your life, and touches those around you.
It sometimes takes a great spiritual awakening for people to be revived to be restored in faith in Jesus Christ, and confidence in oneself.
Faith, real strong faith in Jesus Christ, takes you out of the deep dark well of self, and selfishness, to become a more delightful giving person, because you have a different demeanor and outlook on life.
Most people go through life thinking I can’t make a real difference in my life. Who am I? How can I do something significant enough to help people I encounter daily?
I remember an incident that happened many years ago. It lingers in my mind as a time that made me see how easily it can become for anyone can make a difference.
We had taken my mother to see her doctor, the waiting room was full. Chairs lined the walls of the waiting room, the room was quite only gentle rustling noises were heard. There were about 20 people sitting in various moods, some were obviously in pain, others had the eyes shut, or were flipping the pages of well read magazines.
A young woman rushed in like the swift rush of cool air that whooshed through the door with her, she held her daughter in her arms. Mother and child were smiling as she sat her down on the floor with a grin, and the child waddle off to approach the first old woman, she saw. The mother went to the desk to sign in as the child smile up at the woman grabbed her hands to get her to play patty-cake. The old woman smiled and began to play with the child.
As the mother came back she began to talk to both people who sat on either side of her, a great smile on a homely face. I had unkindly thought as she came into the room that she looked homely.
The babe began to playfully engage the people with her joyous way, her mother kept her bright conversation going with different people in the room. She showed her warm loving way with the contented child. As I looked around the room, I saw people smiling and visiting with one another. The room had come alive with the lively loving mother and daughter. I glance back at the mother and saw a sparkle in her eyes as she talked with the old man beside her, heard her gently laughter, and I thought she looks so much more beautiful than I had first observed.
I saw a lifeless room full of worried, weary people come alive, and a young woman show her true inner beauty that made a difference to everyone with her lively caring presence.

“And that from a child thou hast known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”   2 Timothy 3:15

“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.” James 3:17      By Joan Jessalyn Cox~ Read more in my books
